Walking Boots Tours, Exploring the heart & sole of Ireland. Carefully choosen hiking, walking& special interest vacations tours throughout Ireland.
New: January, February, March. Day walks in the South West of Ireland and beyond. Easy to moderate walks on Saturdays and moderate to strenuous walks on Sundays. A sample Hike in Winter.... Meet: Glenflesk Petrol Station on Killarney/Cork Road at 11am. This is a particular favourite hike of mine beside the shores of the magical Lough Guitane pronounced Autan. The hike starts with a lovely track that takes us easily across a small river coming from the valley and we follow this a little ways to the start of out ascent. We ascend through a narrow gorge with birch trees to emerge by Lough Nabroda and continue to Lough Crohane. This is wonderful terrain even if bits are uneven with purple moor grass underfoot. We will then take a cross-country route to the top of the hill overlooking Lough Crohane and descend into the valley below returning to Lough Guitane. Gear: Waterproof Jacket, pants, walking boots with good ankle support, walking sticks if you are used to using them, hats, gloves, warm drink, snacks, personnel first aid kit. Other Destinations: Reeks in Kerry, Nagles,Sheehy,Boggeraghs,Comeraghs, Galtees,Slieve Mish Mountains. Also coastal walks, west & east cork, forest trails.
