Our journey is based in The Burren. In the words of one of my favourite writers on Celtic spirituality, John o’ Donoghue he describes why to visit the Burren.

‘This landscape has a wild serene complexity’,

'These stones, ever patient, ever still continue to praise the silence of time’.

Writings from the 8th century and Celtic mythology speak of that Divine presence in all of nature.
For generations the Irish people, people of the land, felt, saw, talked with God/Divine spirits as they worked their fields, walked among forests and across her mountains.  John tells us of Celtic spirituality.

‘The Celts had an intuitive spirituality, informed by mindful, reverent attention to landscape’.

This is a time amid nature to reconnect to the quietude within, where springs our well of knowing.

Suggested itinerary:

Day 1: Collection from Cork airport at 12.30 and drive north to County Clare. Our final destination is the picturesque village of Ballyvaughan for the next three nights. We will stay in beautiful Rusheen Lodge, situated in a quiet spot a few miles from the village. Visit www.rusheenlodge.com
On route to Ballvaughan we will stop for a simple late lunch.

To set the seeds for our journey within we will visit the ruined church of St Mac Duach at Eagles Rock. The walk takes approximately 1 hour over grassy, uneven ground. It is advisable to have walking boots, raingear and warm clothes, as we will stay here for some time.

Overnight and evening meal included in Ballyvaughan.

Day 2: Before breakfast we will join together for a meditation.
Rusheen is well known for there fine breakfasts. We will take a packed lunch with us today, as we will be walking most of the day on the Burren Hills. We will drive through the landscape to walk along Mullaghmore Mountain.

from the top of Mullaghmore,The Burren.

Walking in the Burren I find is like a meditation in itself, as you need to be somewhat focused on your footsteps with the uneven limestone.   This to me is a holiday for the mind.
Mullaghmore is a special mountain, it feels desolate, stark yet stunningly beautiful all in one picture. Upon reaching the top we will take lunch there if the weather allows and then gradually descend. We step into, an other world of magical hazel groves and eventually meander under the slopes of Knockanes hill to return to take a country road back to the van.
Walk: 4 hours, Terrain: Uneven limestone terraces, and grassy groves, with some short climbs. Distance: 5 miles approx.

Overnight at Rusheen, evening meal not included.

Day 3: Before breakfast today we will meet for meditation in the stillness of the morning. After breakfast we will take a short drive to the village of Bell harbour. Our walk today takes us in the Oughtmama valley. We will visit St. Colmans well and the area known as the Seven Churches.
From here we will ascend to the hills overlooking the valley and walk to Turlough hill stepping into one of Irelands largest Iron Age Hill Forts.Spectacular views await us from the top of North Clare and Galway Bay. We will gently descend and return via country road to our van.

Walk: 4 hours approx. Terrain: track, uneven limestone, terraces, country road return.          Distance: 5miles.

Overnight at Rusheen, evening meal included.

Day 4: In final meditation time together we will reflect as we prepare to return to our homes. This mornings beautiful walk will take us along the cliffs looking out to Galway Bay.

Awaken to life’s potential and vibrancy.

Let us allow the mind to wander and dream.

See the light within...

Our Journey together comes to a pause here…

We return to Cork for approximately 3.30.

Thank you for joining me on this journey.
I wish for you, that you will continue Your journey with ease and rhythm.
